About

Welcome to my blog. You aren’t likely to find any secrets of the Universe here but hopefully you will find some of the material interesting.

Recently I have received a number of new registrations–all from people with gmail accounts–all from people who don’t give any personal info. The fact that they all started showing up about the same time suggests something is afoot. There for I have deleted those accounts and turn off new registration.

My father’s family came to Idaho from Kansas in January 1910 in a railroad “Emigrant Car.” Mother’s family came from Nebraska in 1928. I arrived on the scene in 1945, have lived most of my life here and have no intention of leaving. I’ve spent much of my life writing about and photographing life in this area.

Much of the material here has been published previously in my column, “Not important. . .but possibly of interest,” which has appeared in area publications for more than 25 years.

This photo of me was shot by my wife, Sara, while we were on a cruise on Alaska’s Inside Passage back in May 2006.

I recently read the article you published in last week’s Avalanche about my grandfather, Walt Adams. I wanted to thank you for remembering him in such a way as to remind us all of what a true “character” he was. I now own my grandparents’ home in Silver City. Although we miss Grandpa’s rustic wit and OYE Co. charm, you can be asured that the front porch still affords a friendly afternoon spot for commentary and reflection. Stop by next time you are up our way.

Thanks for your comment. I feel privileged that I was around when come of those Owyhee County ole boys were still around sharing their wisdom.

You can read about Walt’s Front Porch under the Miscellaneous listings.
